How does the process work?

Initial Contact

E-mail or call us and we will set up an appointment to discuss with you at length what you want to accomplish with your new website. If you have any ideas about the design of your website you will give those to us.

If you don’t have any ideas don’t worry. That’s our job.

  • We will present you with alternatives for you to choose from.
  • We will determine with you how many pages and the extent of complexity you want in your website.
  • We will also discuss some basic design style features that may appeal to you.

Quotation and Payment

If we believe that your website development project could benefit from our services and skills, we will quote you on your project. Our websites are extremely affordable. The total cost depends on the complexity of the project.

Once we have come to an agreement on project details, timeline and price, we will prepare a website development contract for you to review and send back with your deposit. (Contracts may not be required for projects under $1,500.00.)

A 50% deposit is required before we can begin work on your project. The remainder of your balance will be due upon project completion. Once we have received your approved contract and 50% deposit, we will schedule your project for a start date.

Final payment is always due before we take the website live on your domain. Upon receipt of final payment, you will be emailed a final/paid in full receipt.

Domain Registration and Hosting

Some of our clients secure their own domain registration and web hosting; others request that we do it. Either way is fine with us. The domain is registered in your name with your information, and you will be the only registrant contact on file.

Logo Design

If you don’t have a logo, we will provide you with one at a modest extra cost. Our graphic artists will create at least 6 custom logo designs for you to choose from. After viewing the first round you send us your comments and suggestions for design changes. We will send you back a new round of designs based on your ideas. We will do this for up to three rounds or until you are happy with the design.

Research Your Industry

Once we have decided to go forward, we will carefully research your industry to determine what is currently being done by others in your field. We will point out common features of existing websites and ask you to review some existing websites so that you have an idea of what appeals to you.

Graphic Design

We will work together to create a unique customized look and feel for your site. If you have any sites you would like us to refer to when designing your site or if you have any preference as to colors we will use these preferences to guide our design.

Written Content

You will supply the basic text for each page of your web site. We will completely edit all content and format it so that it is presented to draw your target audience into the page and reveal the key benefits and features you will provide for them.

Editing of Written Content

Don’t worry about writing your content! Don’t worry about grammar, punctuation or presentation. We handle all of that for you. All we need from you is an effort, and if you get stuck we’ll coax it out of you easily

Navigation Links

With our help, you will decide what links you want for your website and where they will be placed. If you have any ideas about the style of the navigation links you will pass that on to us to use in creating your customized site.

Photos and Other Graphics

You will provide us with any photos or graphics you would like included. You will also inform us where you want placement on your website.

When is Your Information Due?

Ideally, all of the above information should be supplied prior to us getting started. You will commit to a target date for supplying us with what you need to supply, and we will commit to a start date.

When Do We Start on Your Website?

As soon as all the elements are in hand, we will begin work. The developer in charge of your project will contact you on that day to confirm that we are getting started.

Your Website Prototype

We will provide you with the initial design for you to review. After you have reviewed the design, we will continue to make modifications to until the final desired look is achieved. Once the final desired look is achieved, we will create the interior page layout, convert the design to HTML and add programming.

Constant Communication

Your project manager will inform you via email when extensive updates to the site have been made so you can review the most recent progress.

Professional Stock Photography

Most projects include the use of professional stock photography images. We will provide you with a library to choose from. The use of more than 3 images may require an additional fee.

Contact or Response Forms

We always recommend at least one contact form for your visitor’s convenience. Using a contact form, a visitor can email you directly from your website without needing to open their email program.

Testing Browser Compatibility

Your website will be tested on a variety of operating systems and browsers to insure proper display and functionality.

Dead Link and Contact Forms Check

A thorough check for misdirected links and missing files is performed just prior to as well as after the launch of the website. Any email contact forms and/or programming features included in your project are tested to confirm they are functioning as required.

Error Testing

After the website is live, any interactive programming and scripts are tested to verify proper function. Since the design and testing phase often occurs on a different server, it is very important to once again verify that everything is working correctly after taking the website live.

Development Files

After launch and testing of the website, you are provided with a zipped archive of all website files.

Search Engine Submission

Hand submission and automated search engine submission occurs after launching, testing and fixing any issues there may have been.

Design Changes and Minor Adjustments

Minor adjustments to the website are included at no charge for up to two weeks after the website has been launched (maximum of up to 2 hours labor). Minor changes include adding or changing text and adding or changing photos. Any major revision requests will require additional discussion and may possibly incur a fee.
