Jerry Mikell is the founder of Peak Dynamics. He has been on the path of personal growth and transformation for over thirty years. He has managed, counseled or coached individuals and groups since 1976.
Jerry was born in the high desert of Tucson, AZ and obtained his bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Arizona. He worked in counseling and therapy for Tucson Southern Counties Mental Health Services. He trained in numerous counseling and therapeutic models including Gestalt therapy, Bioenergetics, group therapy, Humanistic therapy, Rogerian therapy and behavior modification to name a few. Jerry has also completed the core coach training program provided by the Coaches Training Institute.
In late 1979, Jerry moved to San Antonio, TX, where he ran a non-profit organization and also served as an editor and general manager for a specialty publishing company. While in San Antonio, Jerry obtained an MBA from the University of Texas at San Antonio and embarked on a career of business management and management consulting.
Jerry has traveled extensively on assignments all over the world: to Canada, Europe, Scandanavia, the Far East and Africa. In 1998 he was asked to help re-engineer a company in South Africa. He lived there until 2003. While there, he organized and advised several projects to empower economically disadvantaged entrepreneurs by teaching business planning and practices and providing micro-loans.
Jerry is a founding member of the Academy of Self Knowledge, an institute dedicated to enlightened, personal transformation. He served as the first director and developed the first iteration of the program’s training modules.
In 2003, Jerry returned to the United States and settled in Durham, NC. In Durham he founded Blue Ridge Business Advisors which provided business and marketing coaching to clients in the Raleigh-Durham area and in the Roanoke Valley area of southwestern Virginia.
He and his lovely wife, Rebecca Hennessey, an elementary special education teacher, have been married for 26 years. They have six children and a sufficient number of grandchildren to require counting.
